Tradition is the living transmission of revelation “usque as nos”(4) and the Church in its doctrine, in its life and in its liturgy perpetuates and transmits to all generations what this is and what She believes. We recognise the authority of the Magisterium to which alone is given the task of authentically interpreting the word of God, in written form or handed down (2) in fidelity to Tradition, recalling that “the Holy Ghost was not promised to the successors of Peter in order for them to make known, through revelation, a new doctrine, but so that with His assistance they may keep in a holy and expressly faithful manner the revelation transmitted by the Apostles, that is to say, the Faith.“(3)3. We declare that we accept the doctrine regarding the Roman Pontiff and regarding the college of bishops, with the Pope as its head, which is taught by the dogmatic constitution Pastor Aeternus of Vatican I and by the Dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentium of Vatican II, chapter 3 ( de constitutione hierarchica Ecclesiae et in specie de episcopatu), explained and interpreted by the nota explicativa praevia in this same chapter.2. We declare that we accept the teachings of the Magisterium of the Church in the substance of Faith and Morals, adhering to each doctrinal affirmation in the required degree, according to the doctrine contained in No.25 of the dogmatic constitution Lumen Gentium of the Second Vatican Council.(1) III1. There's nothing superior about The Resistance. We promise to be always faithful to the Catholic Church and to the Roman Pontiff, the Supreme Pastor, Vicar of Christ, Successor of Peter, and head of the body of bishops. ![]() ![]() it's all been repeated in history, over and over. Saying you're the ones with divine support, imagining yourself to be the persecuted ones who will be vindicated in the end. The followers run to whomever is the most convincing. Gatekeeping the cult in the cheapest, easiest way: by calling out others for not being "pure" or "extreme" enough. The arrogance of these people, each thinking they are in the right, and the only ones in the world who are, is quite indicative of what they're all really after: power. It's got all the markers of cult behavior. In general, the newsletters are full of snarky commentary on "neo-SSPX," "Fake Resistance," and obsessive minutiae about what is ACTUAL traditional Catholicism. I found particularly interesting Issue 48 with comments condemning the original SSPX for being against anti-Semitism. ![]() How do I know all this? A Resistance website here is full of newsletters (based in Britain) with drama. Ortiz, whom I believe is/was one of them. The Resistance also seems to have a recent beef with Fr. Joe Pfeiffer has also been "kicked out" of the Resistance's favor for being ordained by what the Resistance considers to be a rogue, sedevacantist bishop. The Resistance is constantly splintering further, as each influencer vies for a following.īishop Williamson (famously kicked out of original SSPX following an anti-Semitic scandal) used to be the darling of the Resistance, and now he's done something to get their backs up, and is considered "too liberal." (This sort of thing happens in many or all religions and political groups.) The funny thing is, though this splinter group are known as the Resistance, they consider themselves "true SSPX" in the same way the founders of SSPX considered themselves true Catholics. It amuses me to see how the SSPX, once considered a fringe group, is being targeted with similar cult tactics by another break-off group seemingly led by former SSPX priest Fr Hewko.
